Maptionnaire is turning 10 this year! 🎉 We decided to ask ten questions from the people who work hard to put the map in Maptionnaire. This week, you can learn more about who Gaurab is and what he does at Maptionnaire.

PS. Don’t forget to read the previous Q&As, too if you want to more about our awesome team. You can also see  some of our staff doing takeovers on Maptionnaire’s Instagram (and find the previous takeovers in the highlights.)

1. Who are you and what do you do at Maptionnaire?

I am Gaurab Kecy and I work as a Frontend Developer.

2. What is your typical work week like?

A typical work week includes coding Maptionnaire for the most part. I can be anything from developing new features, testing as well as fixing bugs. We also have code reviews and meetings to discuss matters related to our software.

3. What’s your favorite dish to have for lunch?

One of the best things about having to travel to the city center of Helsinki for work is the number of options available to eat. I would say a noodle place called Big Bowl is one of my favorites, followed closely by MoMo house which serves great Nepalese style dumplings.

4. Who is your role model?

I don’t really have an individual as role model. I take inspiration from anyone who excels in their respective fields, that could be an artist, sportsman, leader. I believe that you can be inspired by people from different disciplines.

5. What do you like most about your work at Maptionnaire?

I really like the working environment at Maptionnaire. Everybody enjoys what they are doing and passionate about their job as well. You can ask anyone for help, talk about random stuff and not to mention discussions with Timo (our CTO) about subjects ranging from astrophysics to cryptocurrency. 🌟

6. What’s your favorite feature in the Maptionnaire software? What do you like about it most?

I would say the core feature of Maptionnaire, i.e. using maps to collect information from respondents which enables people to be involved in the decision making process.

7. What’s your favorite hobby?

My favorite hobby is playing and watching football. I also like watching stand up comedy or anything that makes me laugh out loud. âš˝

8. What are your favorite places in cities? What do you like seeing / experiencing when you visit a new city?

My favorite places in cities are anything historical. I find anything that depicts the culture and history of that particular city to be fascinating. I also like to see the architecture of old palaces, castles and learn about the history of the city and of course tasting the local cuisine is always something I look forward to.

9. What would you like to see more in cities of the future? What is your dream city like?

I would like the cities to be safe for everyone. A city should have some character and uniqueness to it, and have residents be proud of it and enjoy living there.

10. What greetings do you have for our blog readers?

We at Maptionnaire are passionate about building livable and lovable cities. Any suggestions to make Maptionnaire better are truly appreciated!
